What is Intergenerational trauma?
Intergenerational Trauma is the idea that exposure to traumatic events while the brain is still developing affects us so profoundly that future generations are impacted as well.
Symptoms of Intergenerational Trauma
- anxiety
-depression
-low self-esteem
-insomnia
-anger
- self destructive behavior.
Healing from Intergenerational Trauma
Healing from intergenerational trauma takes work, but there's good news: trauma survivors are resilient, and research shows that resiliency is also shown in their future generations. Therapy, open communication, as well as connecting with family & community can help with healing.
